Many patients wonder if breast augmentation will increase their chances of breast cancer

Many studies conducted and published in peer reviewed journals found no correlation between breast implant surgery and breast cancer.  There is no delay in detection of breast cancer due to the implant.  Radiologists are able to image the breast tissue with a saline and silicone implant present.  However, make the technician aware you have had breast implant surgery.  The FDA has approved the use of saline and silicone breast implants for primary augmentation.  These implants have always been available for breast reconstruction, following removal of breast tissue for cancer.  For more information on breast augmentation, call our office at 239-348-4357.
