We’re mammals, and as such we’re covered with hair. It’s ironic in a way that many people have lots of hair that they don’t want. Today men are using laser hair removal to get rid of unwanted hair across their chests and even their legs and arms.
But other men and woman could only wish for more hair. Cursed by male or female pattern baldness, they dread looking in the shower drain or at the brush every morning, wondering how many hairs they lost today.
Dr. Turk can help. He offers the latest technology for restoring your hair in areas it is thinning. It’s called NeoGraft, and there’s no funny business. No spray-on hair. No transplanting a strip like a piece of sod. NewGraft takes individual actively growing hair follicles and relocates them from where they aren’t overly needed to areas they are seriously needed.
How Is The FUE Method Performed?
The process Dr. Turk uses for these procedures is technically known as follicular unit extraction (FUE). With FUE the back of your head is first shaved and then numbed. This is the area where your hair is still growing normally and isn’t prone to balding. Dr. Turk removes hair follicles one by one from this area. This area will heal with small dots, but the surrounding hair will cover those. The hairs are stored in the NeoGraft handpiece, bathed in a light saline mist.
Dr. Turk next cleans and numbs the area where you want hair restored. Holes or slits are created with a scalpel or needle, and each hair follicle is placed in one of the holes. As you would assume, this is a time-consuming process, taking anywhere from four to eight hours.
When Will The Hair Start To Grow?
After about two to three weeks, your transplanted hair will fall out, but it’s not a reason for concern. This is simply the follicles’ reaction to the trauma. Of your transplanted follicles, around 60 percent will successfully take hold and start growing new hair within six to nine months.
Who Is A Good Candidate For FUE Hair Transplantation?
For FUE transplantation, the patient needs to have hair still growing on the lower back of his or her scalp. These are the follicles that will be transplanted to the balding areas. The success of the procedure is dictated by how much bald-resistant donor hair the patient has, along with the amount of bald area that needs to be covered. NeoGraft works best if the patient comes in to our Naples offices when his or her hair is thinning. Large, fully bald areas would simply take too many hairs to repopulate.
Will My Results Be Permanent?
The hair follicles at the lower back of your head are genetically resistant to balding. By relocating hundreds or thousands of these follicles to areas where the hair has been susceptible to pattern balding, these follicles will continue to function, growing natural hair for the foreseeable future.
