Want to Lose 10 Years? Consider the Eyes.

In study after study, people say that when they meet a new person the first thing they notice are the person’s eyes. The eyes are the focal point of the face.
Unfortunately, because of the delicacy of the tissue beneath and the area as a whole, the skin around the eyes is some of the thinnest skin on the entire human frame. This makes the area around the eyes among the first to show signs of aging. Sun and environmental damage are commonplace here, too. Plus, fat deposits, loosening skin, and other issues can leave a person with droopy, sagging, puffy, wrinkled skin around the eyes, and with it, a much older appearance.
But blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery, with Dr. Turk can take years, if not decades, off the appearance of your eyes. Eyelid surgery removes excess skin and fat, and tightens the underlying muscles as needed to return a younger, more rested look to the eyes.
Eyelid surgery can be especially satisfying because its results are dramatic, yet subtle. And, while they are so visible, they’re in a way invisible. Eyelid surgery can make you look 10 even 15 years younger, yet people usually have no idea that you’ve had any surgery. Unlike more dramatic procedures such as breast augmentation or a facelift, after you’ve had eyelid surgery most people won’t know you’ve had surgery, only that your appearance somehow seems younger and refreshed.
Would eyelid surgery help me?
Eyelid surgery is one procedure that is popular with both women and men. Drooping eyelids, wrinkles, and puffy bags under your eyes show no favoritism by sex — they make everyone look much older. More and more men are opting to have blepharoplasty to maintain a younger appearance when competing in the workplace. Don’t believe it? The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery statistics from 2015 show blepharoplasty as the #1 cosmetic surgery for men.
Eyelid surgery
Eyelid surgery can be performed on both eyelids or singly, depending on your personal condition. Because of this, surgery can run anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours.
Blepharoplasty is a delicate surgery that involves small incisions. In upper eyelid surgery, Dr. Turk makes a small incision in the natural crease of the eyelid. This conceals any scarring. He then tightens the muscle tissue, repositions the fat, and removes excess skin. Why doesn’t Dr. Turk simply remove the fat? He believes that to create the most natural-looking end result fat should be mostly repositioned, not removed. Removing too much fat in the area can leave the patient with a hollow look.
In the lower eyelid, the incision is usually made just below the lower eyelash. An alternative location can be making the incision inside the lower lid, removing any visible scarring. Excess skin is removed to lessen wrinkles, bags, and general puffiness in this area. Puffiness is the big issue with the lower lids.
Recovery
Eyelid surgery with Dr. Turk does not require a difficult recovery. After the procedure, your eyelids will likely be covered with light gauze. You will be given an eye lubricant and a cold compress. Bruising and swelling is minor, particularly if you are diligent with the compress. After just three or four days your stitches are removed and your eyelids generally will look normal, only younger! There can be some residual swelling, but it usually is gone within 10 days.
